We have been retained by a Fortune 250 global leader in motion and control technologies to find their next Controller for their Tijuana, Mexico muti-sites. For more than a century the company has been enabling engineering breakthroughs that lead to a better tomorrow. The Controller will be part a specific division which is part of the Engineered Material Group based in the USA. The Controler will be based in Tijuana, BC Mexico and reports to the Division Controller.
THE POSITION
The Controller is responsible for the overall Finance function, General Ledger integrity, compliance, and Internal control oversight. This role involves supporting Business Unit (two plants in Tijuana, Mexico) and Divisional staff in business planning, cost accounting, financial reporting, financial performance measurement and identify opportunities and implement solutions that will result in greater efficiency and accuracy. Supervises three director reports with the corresponding team.
- Report Financial results (month end close) for the Division.
- Prepare and Present the Financial Performance analysis (monthly P&L and variance analysis between forecast and actual) to the Business Unit and Divisional Staff.
- Review and approve G/L transactions.
- Participate in Business planning sessions.
- Report on the Business Unit status to the Divisional staff.
- Safeguarding the integrity of the fixed assets.
- Following up Capital Projects investments (CAPEX) and status.
- Ensure inventory is properly valuated.
- Validate and track savings for the earning improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with company Policies and Government regulations. Strengthen compance and internal controls.
- Lead the talent management and employee development processes for the accounting team.
- Review and approve requests (expenses, vendor, disposals, Inventory adjustments, access for systems, agreements, etc.)
- Act as Legal Representative before Government Institutions.
- Record keeping of legal documents.

THE CANDIDATE
Requirements:
- In depth knowledge of the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP’s).
- Proficient with Microsoft applications (Excel, Power Point, Word).
- Proficient with government regulations and laws. Familiarity with customs IMMEX laws.
Level of Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. May consider Finance degree. Master’s degree is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a similar position such as Controller.
- Strong compliance and internal controls background.
- Solid experience with general accounting, financial planning and analysis (forecasting and budgeting),standard cost, financial reporting, and CAPEX.
- 3+ years leadership experience preferred.
- Prior experience in maquiladora or manufacturing industry.
- Multiple sites experience is preferred.
