Our client is a global manufacturer of electrical and mechanical drives, motion control and automation technology – offering products, drive solutions, complete automation systems and engineering services and tools from one single source. Founded over 75 years ago in Germany, they are able to support their customer throughout the entire machine development process – from the control system to the drive shaft and from the initial idea to after-sales. Their products can be found in many industries, including automotive, packaging, material handling and logistics, robotics, converting and printing, and commercial equipment. They have a global network of distributors and representatives which makes our client perfectly positioned to meet the motion control needs of customers worldwide. They have recently formally directly started a Mexico sales operation and are seeking to drive growth and expansion.
THE POSITION
Objective:
We have been retained to find a Country Sales Manager which will be responsible for overseeing and directing all sales activities within Mexico while working closely with key managers and colleagues throughout the company. This position will also include being responsible for developing sales strategies, hiring, developing and managing a sales team including a Channel Development Manager, building and maintaining relationships with key clients, and ensuring that sales targets are met or exceeded. At first this position will take on a player & coach approach. As market share grows and the size of the operation grows will become more of a coach and focus more on Country Manager duties and initiatives.
This is a remote position and will be based in Monterrey, Mexico but will consider Guadalajara, Mexico as an alternative.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Planning:
- Develop and execute sales strategies to achieve business objectives and increase market share in Mexico.
- Identify new business opportunities and market trends within the country to identify opportunities for growth and expansion.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with clients.
- Work closely with other departments such as marketing, product development and customer service to ensure alignment and support for sales initiatives.
Team Management:
- Lead, mentor and motivate the sales team to meet and exceed sales targets.
- Set performance targets for sales representatives and monitor their performance.
- Provide training and support to enhance team performance and productivity.
Budget Management and Reporting:
- Develop and oversee the sales budget, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Prepare regular sales forecast and reports for senior management.
- Analyze sales data to evaluate performance and identify areas for improvement.
Compliance:
- Ensure all operations comply with local laws and regulations
- Stay updated on changes in regulations that may impact business.

- All levels of management and corporate leadership
- Assembly employees and supervisors
THE CANDIDATE
Background and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related fields or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in sales management in the Mexican market.
- Sales prospecting and account management experience.
- Must have a technical sales background with technical products (i.e. electrical and mechanical drives, variable frequency drives, servo motors, inverters, AC Drives and motors, motion control and automation systems and technology, etc.). Will consider many other technical products sold to industries in automotive, packaging, material handling and logistics, robotics, converting and printing, and commercial equipment.
- A sales engineering background is a plus (not required).
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and managing budgets effectively.
- Experience working with global companies. USA and/or German companies is a plus.
- Strong leadership and management skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Collaborative team player.
- Ability to travel up to 35% of time or as required
- Growth-oriented and self-motivated to do what it takes to get the job done right.
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Fluent in English and Spanish.
Physical Requirements:
This position requires the ability to regularly sit at a desk for long periods of time and perform physical tasks including but not limited to lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, and reaching. Continuous mental and/or visual attention requires constant alertness to monitor warehouse processes and/or identify problems. The work environment will sometimes be in a cold warehouse setting and may be exposed to dust, fumes, dirt, noise, and water. It requires the ability to travel as needed, with occasional overnight travel. Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a motor vehicle record check. Ability to meet the above description of position with or without reasonable accommodation.
