Operations Manager (Extrusion)

THE COMPANY

We have been retained to by a global leader in high speed and high-density connection systems who solves system design challenges with integrated interconnect solutions for application in networking, communications, data storage, and computer server markets. This global leader currently seeks an Operations Manager with Extrusion expertise to be part of team to lead a plant in the middle of start-up operations already underway in Mexicali, BC Mexico.  This plant manufactures bulk cables for high-speed IO products. This will be a highly automated plant with core wire extrusion, wrapping, cabling, and jacketing. The position reports to the Plant Manager.

THE POSITION

Main Responsibilities:

• Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Operation Manager role is to provide leadership and management of a multi-function team in the areas of safety, quality, engineering, and cost performance over Spectra-strip product lines.
• The Operation Manager is accountable for meetings and improving the business P&L.
• Driving a culture of continuous improvement in all facets of the operation is necessary for success.
• Partners with Materials, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality and Production Teams to set production center goals and objectives that align with the needs of the Customer and BU targets.
• The role consists of direct responsibility for the efficient operations of Spectra Strip production line.
• Accountable for the business P&L, meeting and improving financial margins. Determining and implementing world class quality control mindset and standards.
• Facilitate effective and actionable Gemba walks utilizing KPIs to meet performance objectives and drive continuous improvement.
• Provides leadership to junior staff including establishing objectives, setting goals, and managing accountability for attaining deliverables.
• Manages production operation expenses and budgets for the production center, including direct and indirect manufacturing expenses and capital expenses.
• Coordinate NPI activities to manage introduction of new product meeting quality and productivity standards.
• Ensures use of technical review process to release NPI products.
• Ensures that health and safety regulations are met.

THE CANDIDATE

Experience and Requirements:

• Minimum three years of manufacturing experience in Extrusion in an Operations Manager or Senior Production Manager, or Business Unit Manager role.
• Strong production management background.
• Solid experience managing P&L and budget.
• Solid knowledge and experience in lean manufacturing and continuous improvement.
• Working knowledge of ERP system or similar. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (EXCEL, Word, and PowerPoint)
• Successful personnel management experience.
• Excellent leader, with good organization skills, people and communication skills.
• Focused on results; proactive, and dynamic. “Makes things happen.” Team player.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline or similar.
• Fluent in English and Spanish.
• Valid U.S Tourist Visa.
