We have been retained by a renowned global leader specializing in high-speed and high-density connection systems to find an Operations Manager. Committed to providing innovative products and services to clients worldwide, this industry giant boasts annual sales nearing $14 billion USD. As a result of growth, our client seeks an Operations Manager to join their operations in Mexicali, B.C., Mexico. The focus will be on manufacturing High-Speed Cable Products, with a primary focus on e-vehicles, energy storage, and consumer goods. This position reports to the Plant Manager.
THE POSITION
Job description:
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Operations Manager’s role is to provide leadership and management of a multi-function team in the areas of safety, quality, schedule, and cost performance. The Operations Manager is accountable for meeting and improving the business P&L. Driving a culture of continuous improvement in all facets of the operation is necessary for success. The Operations Manager oversees 6 Production Managers and 2 Maintenance Managers and will oversee nearly 1000 employees by year 2025.
Main responsibilities:
- Partners with Global Management Team to set production center goals and objectives that align with the needs of the Customer and BU targets.
- Efficiently communicate and manage in a matrix environment across Quality, Supply Chain, Customer Service and Engineering
- Ensuring that health and safety regulations are met.
- Partner with human resources area to manage salary/hourly manpower, training, and development.
- Determining and implementing world class quality control mindset and standards.
- Develop and implement procedures to ensure that manufacturing processes run reliably and efficiently by monitoring Planning, labor resources, tools and equipment.
- Facilitate effective and actionable Gemba walks utilizing KPIs to meet performance objectives and drive continuous improvement.
- Provides leadership to junior staff including establishing objectives, setting goals, and managing accountability for attaining deliverables.
- Manages production operation expenses and budgets for the production center, including direct and indirect manufacturing expenses and capital expenses.
- Accountable for the business P&L, meeting and improving financial margins.
THE CANDIDATE
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering in either manufacturing, industrial, electronic, mechanical or related is required.
- Fluent in Spanish and excellent fluency in English able to carry elaborate business conversations and assessments in English with clients and internal stakeholders.
- 5 + years’ experience in management roles in a manufacturing environment is required.
- 5+ years’ Operations Manager experience is preferred.
- Cable and harness assembly experience is preferred (like high-speed cable products assembly)
- Proven experience improving business P&L.
- Proven experience implementing world class quality management and controls and lean methodologies.
- Ability to work across the organization and various disciplines including Engineering, Operations, Program Office, and Business Development.
- Experience with process adherence with Safety and Quality standards and programs defined in the company operating system.
- Conflict resolution and negotiating skills.
- Self-directed, result and goal oriented.
- Strategic thinking coupled with very effective communication skills
- Possess strong leadership and development skills
- MS Office and working knowledge of ERP/MRP.
- Able to travel
- Valid US Visa.
