We are representing a renowned global leader specializing in high-speed and high-density connection systems. Committed to providing innovative products and services to clients worldwide, this industry giant boasts annual sales nearing $11 billion USD. Currently, they are in search of an Automation Manager with expertise in cable assembly industry, to join their operations in Mexicali, B.C., Mexico. The focus will be on manufacturing High-Speed Cable Products, with a primary focus on e-vehicles, energy storage, and consumer goods.
THE POSITION
- The Automation Manger will be responsible for the planning, design, implementation, debugging and verification of automation projects within the company.
- This role will collaborate with sourcing teams to develop new tooling and automation suppliers, analyzing current cable assembly processes to identify improvement opportunities and designing new tooling fixtures and automation equipment.
- Will design new tooling, fixtures, semi-automated and fully automated equipment. The successful candidate will ensure that all automation projects are completed on schedule, achieving an annual target of 10% cost savings.
- This role will also be managing production equipment and fixtures, plan preventive maintenance and provide technical support for new project development. And will conduct self-study of current cable assembly processes to identify and exploit improvement opportunities.
- In addition, the Automation Manager will take responsibility for managing production equipment and fixtures. Plan and execute preventive maintenance and generate safety stock of spare parts for current equipment in order to reduce breakdown time and improve the efficiency of existing fixtures. And lead technical support of tooling and automation equipment to the new project development team.
THE CANDIDATE
- B.S. in Industrial, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- +5 years of experience in cable assembly operation with automation design and management.
- +3 years in a leadership position training other team members on electrical and mechanical design.
- Strong understanding of OEE, DOE, GR&R methodologies.
- Solid communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Skilled in CAD/Solid works and similar drawing software.
- Proven experience driving and implementing automation projects.
- Strong understanding and management of cost savings automation projects.
- Fully fluent in English and Spanish.
- Strong collaboration skills and proven team player.
