Director of Accounting, Americas Region

Our client is global leader in electronics components and sensors and is currently seeking for a dynamic Director of  Accounting for the Americas Region  who will lead a team of 30 that is responsible for all accounting, tax and control activities in Latin America and select entities in the United States.  The role requires strong collaboration across multiple departments (finance, HR, IT, manufacturing, purchasing, supply chain) in several locations where our client operates in the region. Director of Accounting will direct all activities in the regional Accounting Center of Excellence and execute programs to improve the control environment and the overall accounting close process. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads all accounting operations for Latin America (primarily Mexico) entities (~10) and select Unites States commercial entities (~10)
  • Direct all income and indirect tax planning and compliance activities in Mexico with support and guidance from the Corporate Tax department and the Global Trade Compliance group
  • Partner with the Operations Finance team to deploy accounting policy consistently across all sites and to proactively identify and address issues that affect the manufacturing operations
  • Coordinate with Americas Shared Service Center to provide support in managing the Company’s key cash conversion cycle activities that affect the region
  • Manage the relationship with the external auditors to deliver the least costly and most effective audit for the local operations
  • Drive a culture of continuous process improvements to reduce close cycle time, increase standardization / centralization, and reduce risk in the overall control environment
  • Oversee staff training and development. Coordinate with HR to incorporate learning plans for key talent in preparation for future roles.
  • Support due diligence activities related to potential acquisitions where required


Candidate Experience:

Minimum 12 years working in a complex international setting with Manufacturing and Maquiladora organizational structures in Mexico. Experience with Profit Centers and commercial entities desirable, as well.  Previous experience as a Director of Accounting, Senior Controller or similar with a very strong technical accounting background in large complex operations, preferably multi-site and across a region.  The candidate should have demonstrated career progression moving up the chain of management, have experience leading a team and should not move around from company to company too frequently.  The ideal candidate should have Big-4 Public Accounting Firm training (i.e., PwC, EY, KMPG, Deloitte) to support technical accounting and tax expertise in an international environment. Experience with Mexico tax and legal compliance required.  Previous M&A experience is desired but not required.  US GAAP and IFRS is desirable.


Bachelor degree-equivalent in Accounting or similar required; Masters degree preferred

Professional Certifications:

Mexican Certified Public Accountant required
