Summary:

Our client is a global electronics manufacturing leader looking for a Sr. Cost Accountant for their multi-plant operations in Baja California, Mexico. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this position will be responsible for the maintenance of the company’s standard costing system including, but not limited to, involvement in make vs buy decisions, labor analyses, cost reduction projects, variance tracking, and job closings. Areas of focus will include COGS and fixed assets. This position analyzes material, labor, or other expenses to determine production costs, cost of sales, or other cost-related performance measures. This position is responsible for capturing and classifying cost data to determine the cost associated with products/product lines, projects, or departments, providing cost-related data in support of business decisions or for use in financial reporting and participating in or overseeing regular inventory cycle counts. Additionally, this position conducts inventory and warranty reserve analysis on a quarterly basis and generate reports for senior management. Position is based in tijuana, BC Mexico

 

Main Responsabilities:

Create and maintain the Company’s cost accounting methodology

  •  Provide input into weekly cross-functional gross margin meetings
  • Monitor and track variances and overhead
  • Develop and implement an overhead capitalization policy
  • BOM analysis and maintenance as required
  • Complete required month-end, year-end audit and other materials in a timely manner
  • Classify costs accurately
  • Generate PPV reports
  • Review open orders and bill of material
  • Review various cost and labor allocation
  • Responsible for reserves analysis and inventory accounting/reconciliation

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance, CMA a plus
  • 3-5+ years of progressive cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Solid understanding of the core elements in a standard cost system and the ability to construct and analyze the standard costs of our products.
  • Willingness to create business processes and assume ownership of tasks, projects and assignments.
  • Good communication skills
  • Advanced Excel
  • Fluent English and Spanish
  • Able to influence others
