Job Description:

Position Summary:

The Sr. Manufacturing Engineer performs a variety of operations to directly support the  manufacturing operations and the company WIN Strategy. Through practices of lean systems and continuous improvement, contributes to a high performance team to ensure total customer satisfaction, quality products and services, on-time delivery, and a safe work environment while reinforcing the companies’ quality and safety polices.

Responsible for carrying out design and development of rubber molds and manufacturing processes including but not limited to: tools, jigs, and special equipment to achieve desired production rates and quality standards.

Scope/Supervision and Interaction:

Works with other Manufacturing Systems Engineers and trainees.

Essential Functions:

 • Provides the Plant Manager recommendations of alternate process and method approaches for manufacturing equipment.

 • Utilizes the Parker Lean system to drive permanent improvement.

• Investigates and analyzes the cost and reliability of using various equipment and processes.

• Studies performance and problems in existing tools, equipment and methods and recommends improvements through redesign or modification.

• Estimates costs of assigned projects together with a satisfactory delivery schedule.

• Implements team-oriented projects with structured accountability.

• Creates and designs new rubbers molds. Assumes responsibility for the introduction of new equipment, under jurisdiction and form, making sure that manufacturing personnel are adequately trained. Makes layouts and detail drawings of equipment assigned.

• Cooperates with other departments to develop most practical specifications for materials, processes and equipment.

• Keeps abreast of all new development in equipment and/or processes that could be adapted to improve manufacturing processes.

• Performs other duties as assigned or as dictated by responsibility.

Work Environment, Health & Safety:

Working conditions are of a general manufacturing environment and is exposed to machinery and chemicals. Work may involve lifting materials and products up to 30 pounds; extensive use of hands and fingers; and/or maintaining in a sedentary or stationary position for periods of time. Various positions may be receptive to loud decibels of noise. The use of proper PPE's is required at all times and included but not limited to eye safety glasses, hearing protect and/or safety shoes.

Candidate Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME)/or similar or Master of Science in Manufacturing Systems Engineering.

• 5 Years Minimum Experience in designing (knowledge) and implementing rubber molds in a manufacturing environment, and or similar experience.

• Manufacturing Experience.

• Machine Tool Proficiency.       

• Strong Lean Background.

• Good Communications Skills.

Candidate Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced Experience with Autodesk Inventor mechanical design & 3D CAD software application for 3D mechanical design, simulation, visualization, and documentation.

• Experience with rubber, plastic, and metal molds press/ casting manufacturing.

• Advanced Analytical and Problem solving skills

• Hands on experience of implementation of mechanical design, capable of working with operation and production team members of all levels.
