Position Summary:

Our client is a global and well-established produce grower, packer and shipper who is seeking a VP of Finance who will work closely with the CEO and Executive Team in support of the Board of Directors. He/she is accountable for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the company, to include the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP.)

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Board Administration and Support

Lead in cooperation with the Executive Team the final review of and presentation to Board of Directors of monthly and year-end financials for West Pak Avocado and all owner related companies. Prepare and present monthly financial and budget review to the Executive Team.

2. Program, Financial Systems and Service Delivery

Coordinate communication and relationships with all third party legal, lending, banking, insurance, accounting, government, staff development, and investment companies related to finance or accounting.

3. Financial, Tax, and Risk Management

Provide key leadership to Executive Team on all financial, tax, and risk management efforts. Coordinate communication and relationships with all third party legal, lending, banking, insurance, accounting, government, staff development, and investment companies related to finance or accounting.

4. Strategic Management

Ensures that the corporate annual budget reflects the company’s strategic plan and EBITDA margin goals . Leads and extends opportunity for participation and provides oversight in the annual corporate budget development, reviews, and Executive Team coordination.

5. International Operations

Ensures financial responsibility for major projects, negotiates terms of Letters of Credit with clients and transfers/assignments to suppliers serving as key contact with issuing US banks. Responsible for analyzing project cost variances from budgets, taking corrective action, handling bonding and insurance needs. Develop feasibility study for future expansions in South America; as well as any other future international locations of the company as assigned.

6. Special Projects

Special Project Development and oversight including – Texas corporate investment; Philadelphia corporate investment; “Key Results/Accountability”; departmental performance measures; profit center break even analysis; and any other future projects as assigned.

7. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This position is an Executive Position and is classified under California Law as Exempt.

8.Travel

Travel is primarily domestic, although out of the area and international travel will also be required.

Candidate Skills & Requirements:

Desired Qualifications: The candidate for Vice President for Finance should have a Master’s Degree in finance or Business Administration, or equivalent business experience and 10+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation. The incumbent should have experience in partnering with an Executive Team and have a high level of written and oral communication skills. Preference will be given to candidates with an MBA in Finance and the Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations. Bilingual (English/Spanish).
