Position Summary:

Our client, a world-class automotive manufacturing company, is seeking a highly competitive Foundry Process Engineering Manager for its Chihuahua, Mexico operations.

The Foundry Process Engineering Manager will serve as the chief technical focal point for the corporation in defining and standardizing metal handling and processing engineering specifications procedures to ensure effective controls are in place in key areas throughout manufacturing operations.

Position Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide corporate wide support to Engineering, Manufacturing and sales/marketing to ensure that foundry process engineering issues are properly addressed and resolved early in the product design phase.
  • Work closely with plant engineers to review current melt and delivery processes and verify they meet or exceed customer requirements and best practices.  Ensure all improvements are implemented as required and effectiveness is measured through process audits of production operations.
  • As a cross-functional team leader, experiment and establish optimum heat treatment cycles for various products, insuring that the utilization of equipment is maximized.
  • Conduct/coordinate corporate wide failure analysis projects for effective resolution and corrective action implementation.

Candidate Qualifications & Requirements:

BACKGROUND REQUIRED

1) Wide experience in Casting process Design.

2) Knowledge of flow and solidification of aluminum when it's poured into the mold.

3) Experienced in Foundry Process Improvement.

4) Some knowledge in casting molds fabrication and modification to improve the casting process.

5) Desirable knowledge of Aluminum heat treatment.

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 8 years’ experience in the foundry process and foundry engineering field with progressive responsibility for change management, establishment of sound process controls, root cause investigation, internal audits, and successful implementation of corrective actions across multi-plants and international operations, specifically U.S./Mexico. 

The individual will have a wide body of knowledge and experience working with aluminum casting, heat treatment of aluminum alloys, and quench/temper hardening of safety critical automotive parts. Additional experience required in SPC, Failure Analysis, PPAP, FMEA, and MICRO / MACRO hardness test procedures.

EDUCATION REQUIRED           

Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical or Materials Science with continuing education in the field. A higher degree in Metallurgy and Materials Science would be a plus.  Proficiency with English and Spanish language is required.
