Their continued growth and expansion of their internationally recognized LEED® Silver certified (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design™) manufacturing operation in Houston, Texas has created this opportunity for a skilled Bilingual (English/Spanish) Engineering & Maintenance professional to join their team.

THE POSITION

By joining a dynamic, casual and family?like team, you will play a key role (as an Engineering and Maintenance Manager) in the continued growth with primary responsibility for leading engineering and maintenance activities and support throughout the operation, production equipment and robotics and facilities. Excellent organizational, technical, interpersonal and leadership skills are essential. 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership & Team Management:

  • Lead, mentor and develop a team of 3-5 maintenance and engineering professionals.
  • Set and manage performance goals, conduct performance assessments, and facilitate professional development.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative and high-performance team culture.
  • Manage team schedules, workloads and priorities to ensure timely and effective support for manufacturing operations.

Maintenance Operations

  • Lead all repair, preventative and predictive maintenance activities for manufacturing operations, equipment and facilities both strategically and tactically.
  • Develop, implement and manage effective preventive maintenance schedules and SOPs along with predictive maintenance technologies and practices to maximize reliability and efficiency.
  • Manage use of CMMS system effectively to maintain accurate service records and documentation, capture diagnostic knowledge, electronically monitor auto-captured real-time equipment performance metrics for predictive maintenance, optimize organized min/max parts inventories and track consumption.
  • Develop, implement and manage relevant OKR’s, KPI’s and other performance metrics aligned with operating and business management teams to ensure company objectives are achieved.

Engineering & Technical Expertise

  • Provide hands-on support, technical expertise and mentorship in the troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of industrial equipment, automation and control systems.
  • Lead the design, implementation and optimization of engineering projects to enhance manufacturing capabilities, capacities and efficiencies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement process improvements and performance enhancements.
  • Evaluate, propose and manage projects improving performance, safety and cost efficiency through further introduction and implementation of advanced and emerging technologies, automation, robotics, vision systems, IIoT and AI.

Strategic Planning & Capital Projects

  • Develop and execute long-term maintenance and engineering strategies aligned with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Manage the maintenance and engineering budget including cost control and investment planning for new equipment and technologies.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, quality standards and environmental requirements.
  • Lead the design, management and execution of capital investment projects and operational and capacity expansions. 

Continuous Improvement & Sustainability

  • Promote a culture of safety, continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Emphasize the importance of sustainability and environmentally friendly practices in all engineering and maintenance activities.
  • Identify and drive initiatives to enhance operational performance, reduce costs, and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in manufacturing to maintain and further advance our industry leadership position and reputation for providing outstanding service and value to our clients. 

THE CANDIDATE

Qualifications and Experience

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to perform the responsibilities of the position with an enthusiastic, innovative attitude through successful career experiences and technical educational background.  Our ideal candidate will enjoy a dynamic fast-paced environment, a hands-on approach, and have a strong commitment to proactive preventive and predictive maintenance practices and playing a leading role in our team’s advancement.   This is a key leadership role in our company and the desired candidate will possess the following:

  • Relevant Technical Degree or Engineering degree (i.e., Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electronics or similar)
  • Broad comprehensive technical knowledge, diagnostic and repair abilities with electro/mechanical manufacturing equipment including pneumatics, hydraulics, power transmission, bearings, compressed air and filtration systems, and automotive equipment such as forklifts.
  • Proficiency in industrial automation including electrical & controls schematics, electrical test/diagnostic
  • equipment, motor controls, various sensors and actuators, industrial I/O systems, Profinet/Profibus & PLC
  • programming, HMI’s and troubleshooting and diagnostics skills with such technologies.
  • Experience installing/maintaining high speed precision automated manufacturing equipment and robotics.
  • Understanding of fundamental mechanical, equipment and fixture design, welding, metal fabrication, CNC.
  • Experience as a Manufacturing Engineering Manager and/or Maintenance Manager is not required. Will consider a Supervisor or experienced Engineer level ready to be promoted to the next level but must have strong leadership experience.
  • Certification as a Certified Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP), Certified Reliability Engineer (CRE) is a plus but not required.
  • CAD design skills are desirable, but not required.
  • Familiarity and proficiency with CMMS systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Solid project management skills, ability to manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously. Project Management Professional (PMP) is a plus.
  • Strong communication, leadership and organizational skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across
  • departments and levels of the organization.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, creative/inventive mindset, attention to detail, and aptitude for
  • developing unique solutions
  • Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt to changing priorities and demands.
  • Professional Level Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish.

COMPENSATION

Compensation will consist of a highly competitive base salary and lucrative benefits package with the opportunity to earn a significant bonus and additional compensation based on performance and achievement of defined operational goals.
