General Manager & President of Mexico Operations 

Retained by a global and public organization to locate their President for their entire Mexican operations.   

Position Overview                                                                      Reporting to the CEO, the General Manager and President for Mexico operations is responsible for the performance of all department functions, and the successful achievement of the company business plan for Company’s Business Unit in Mexico (PMX). This position will organize, direct, and control activities of Operations providing direct management of key functional managers within that business unit (PMX).  This position will be accountable for ensuring quality and on time production/shipment of finished products at optimal cost, protecting and employing assets to achieve set targets/goals and creating a culture that embraces empowerment and teamwork while significantly growing revenue and EBITDA.

Key responsibilities related to revenue generation include identifying opportunities for growth and removing barriers to growth; support Sales when interfacing with existing customers to gain additional business, find new customers for future business, and develop and maintain relationships with suppliers which are key to our business success.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead by example that demonstrates the core values of Company.
  • Deliver high-quality service to customers.
  • Ensure profitable sales, financial, and operational performance of the division in concert with the corporate mission, strategic plan, and business plan.
  • Establish key metrics to monitor performance for team and corporate management.
  • Meet regularly with the CEO/ Mexico President to discuss planned versus actual profitability, return on invested capital, employee productivity and moral, and other relevant issues.
  • Manage and optimize end to end operational performance related to delivery, efficient manufacturing, quality, regulatory compliance, customer service, material costs, sustainable continuous improvement as well as other programs to enhance profitability.
  • Analyze actual demand and forecasts, provide sufficient manufacturing capacity, and develop and maintain adequate capabilities to support Customer’s requirements, including the development and implementation of long-term capital planning.
  • Optimize the utilization of manufacturing and engineering resources through rigorous review of processes, continually driving gains in both effectivity and efficiency.
  • Drive materials Value Analysis to reduce cost.
  • Lead the implementation of Lean methodologies to transform operational processes.
  • Foster a culture of Continuous Improvement and act as the catalyst for business improvement.
  • Develop and maintain a positive work environment for both Hourly and Salary employees.
  • Build and maintain relationships that guide, motivate and reinforce positive performance of all employees toward goal accomplishments.
  • Work collaboratively with other business units in the successful achievement of company goals and vision.
  • Assume functional responsibility for the selection, development, evaluation, compensation, and retention of all team members and direct reports.
  • Seek and provide performance feedback, coaching, personal development and the development of others to improve capabilities in current role to prepare for future roles.
  • Establish priorities, balance demand for time and effort, set intervals and monitor results for all areas of work to ensure specific commitments and standards are achieved.
  • Responsible for the preparation of departmental budgets, standards and the tracking and accomplishment of business operations.
  • Fiscal Responsibility: Full P & L responsibility

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor of Science Degrees: Engineering, Science discipline or Business Administration. Master’s degree a plus.
  • Minimum of 15 years of management experience, with 10+ years at a senior management level in manufacturing operations centric (Plant Management) leadership capacity required.
  • Managing $50M+ revenue within business unit structure.
  • Solid cost accounting/finance and business acumen with P&L experience, quantitative and performance measurement analysis.
  • Seasoned contract manufacturing experience in all facets of manufacturing operations including quality, plant regulatory compliance, Import-Export, and all the regulatory requirements to run this business unit in compliance with US and MX laws - Maquiladora experience a must.
  • Solid experience in managing manufacturing environments such as EMS, electro-mechanical, sheet metal, cable/wire harness, integration/assembly.
  • Bilingual / Bi-cultural management professional with broad experience in the Aerospace, Medical, Industrial, Electronic industries.
  • Sound administrative skills, well-developed management skills-principles and people.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Fluent in English and Spanish
  • Ability to read and write in both English and Spanish
  • Live local to the Tijuana facility
